Units of measure

Last updated: October 24, 2026

What it does

Use units to name what your quantities are counted in on items and order lines, such as hours or boxes. Units lists every unit of measure in your organisation.

ColumnWhat it shows
Name (Singular)The name for a quantity of one, such as box
Name (Plural)The name for many, such as boxes
Created At, Created ByWhen the unit was made, and who made it
Updated At, Updated ByWhen it last changed, and who changed it
  • Updated At and Updated By start hidden. Turn them on from Columns and Sort.
  • Create Unit opens a form with Name (Singular) and Name (Plural), such as hour and hours. Lucrii asks for both because a quantity of one reads differently from a quantity of many.
  • Selecting a row opens the unit, where Edit changes it and More Actions holds View Audit History, View Bulk Activity and Delete.

Tick rows to delete several units at once, as Bulk actions on settings lists describes. The Actions menu holds Import and Export, which Importing and exporting taxes, units and teams covers.

The view list at the left of the list’s toolbar holds your saved views under Yours. Views shared with everyone in your organisation are under Shared, with a people icon. On this list, a saved view keeps the search, sort and columns it was saved with. Work boards and tasks covers saved views and selecting rows.

Before you start

  • Reading the list is open to everyone. Creating, editing or deleting a unit needs administrator or above, and those buttons do not show below that role.
  • Name (Singular) and Name (Plural) can be up to 100 characters each.
  • A unit’s name can’t match another unit’s name, even where only the capitals differ.
  • You can keep up to 50 saved views of your own on each list.
  • Create and Save stay at the top of the page, and leaving with unsaved changes opens Discard Changes, as Creating a contact describes.
  • Save keeps changes someone else made to other fields while you edited. Where you both changed one field, Lucrii asks which to keep. See who else is on a record says more.

How to use it

  1. Open Settings, then Units under Organisation.
  2. Select Create Unit.
  3. Enter the singular name.
  4. Enter the plural name.
  5. Select Create.

Deleting a unit asks you to confirm first.

An MCP client can create, update and delete units the same way this page does.

To save a view of your own:

  1. Search, sort and choose the columns the way you want them.
  2. Open the view list at the left of the toolbar, then select Save As New View.
  3. Enter a name for the view and select Save.

Troubleshooting

Lucrii refuses to delete a unit. An item or an open order still uses it. The message counts them and asks you to reassign them first.
