Hermes credits and spending limits
Last updated: October 24, 2026
What it does
Use the Hermes AI Credits card on the billing page to see Hermes’ usage and cap spending past your allowance.
Lucrii meters Hermes work in credits, weighed from the text read and written on each reply.
- The Early Access plan includes 2,000 credits a month. A yearly subscription includes twelve months of them across the year.
- The free plan includes none, so Hermes is unavailable on it.
- Once the monthly credits are spent, work continues at $20.00 per 1,000 credits. Lucrii adds the amount to the next invoice.
- The same credits pay for chat, the inbox summary, the analysis Hermes runs over your records and the questions an MCP client asks.
The spending limit is the ceiling on that overage. While the overage stands at or above it, Hermes stops replying and says so.
- The limit starts at $100 a month.
- The spending limit is a whole number of dollars from 0 to 1,000. Zero means no limit, and the card then reads Unlimited.
The card shows the free credits used against the allowance, and the overage so far this period. The spending limit and the rate being charged are under them.
Before you start
- Only an Owner can open Billing. The limit changes only from there.
- Owners get an email as the overage passes 50, 75, 90 and 100 percent of the limit.
- Lucrii counts credits for the organisation that pays. A child organisation spends its parent organisation’s allowance, and the parent organisation’s limit caps it too.
How to use it
- Open the billing page under organisation settings.
- Read the Hermes AI Credits card for what has been spent this period.
- Select the spending limit to change it, enter an amount in dollars, and save. Enter 0 for no limit.
Troubleshooting
Hermes stops replying. The panel says which limit you hit.
- Message too long. Messages stop at 10,000 characters. Shorten it and send it again.
- Not on your plan, when your plan does not include Hermes.
- Spending limit reached. Raising the spending limit starts Hermes again.
- Conversation limit reached, when a conversation has grown too long for Hermes to read at once. Select New Chat on the notice to start a new one.
Hermes is off though you have credits left. A cancelled subscription turns Hermes off until it is settled, whatever credits are left. So does one that has fallen past due or is in its grace period.
