Document templates
Last updated: October 24, 2026
What it does
Use templates to set how your quotes, invoices and purchase orders look.
- The type filter above the two sections narrows both sections to one document type.
- Installed Templates shows the templates your organisation has. Each card shows its type, and a Default star on the default for that type.
- An Update available badge shows when the gallery has a newer version.
- Template Gallery shows the templates left to install.
- Install opens a window with a preview and a Template Name of your own. It also has a box to make the template the default for its type. The first template of a type is the default, and the window says so.
- Installing takes you to the template’s page. It puts a live preview beside a Template Settings card, with the colours, fonts and switches that template defines. Save keeps your changes.
- More Actions holds Set as default, View Audit History and Uninstall. While the gallery has a newer version, Update appears beside it.
- Updating from the gallery keeps the settings you have already set.
Before you start
- Administrator or above. Below that role, installing, saving template settings and everything in More Actions are unavailable, and you will not see Install at all.
- You can only uninstall a template while another of the same type is installed. Documents you already made keep the template they were made with.
- A Template Name can be up to 255 characters. Template Settings can be up to 16 KB.
- Leaving with unsaved changes opens Discard Changes, as Creating a contact describes.
How to use it
- Open Settings, then Templates under Organisation.
- Choose a type in the filter, or leave it on All Types.
- Select Install on a gallery card.
- Give the template a Template Name.
- Select Install Template, then set its properties on the page that opens and select Save.
Troubleshooting
Installed Templates is not on the page. The section appears only while the filter matches an installed template, so a fresh organisation, or a type with nothing installed, has none.
