Signing up and logging in
What it does
Open a Lucrii account with your email address or Google, or join an organisation from an invitation. Create your account takes an email address and a password. After Continue, it asks for the rest.
| Field | What it takes |
|---|---|
| Your Name | Your full name |
| Business Name | The name of your first organisation |
| How did you hear about us? | Where you heard about Lucrii, if you like |
The Google button is the other way in, and asks for none of that. The organisation it opens is named after your first name, or My Organisation where Google withholds the name or gives Hermes or System.
Signing up with a password sends a verification email. That includes an account opened from an invitation, since accepting one doesn’t confirm your address. The app holds you at the verification screen until the address is confirmed. Signing up through Google confirms a gmail.com address, or one on a domain your Google Workspace runs, so that account never meets the verification screen. An account opened through Google on any other address gets the verification email too.
Log In asks for the email address first.
- Continue reads the address’s domain. Where its organisation requires single sign-on for that domain, the button becomes Log In with Google, which sends you to Google. Other addresses open the password field.
- Under the form are Google and Passkey, and Passkey appears where the browser supports one.
- An account with two-factor turned on meets a Two-Factor Authentication panel after the password. It takes a six-digit code from an authenticator app, or a passkey. Where both are set up, buttons switch between them.
- Use a backup code is under either panel. One code clears either factor’s challenge.
- A log in lasts 30 days. Using Lucrii doesn’t make it last longer, and Lucrii doesn’t log you out for being idle. After 30 days, log in again.
An invitation link opens a page saying who invited you, which organisation, and the role you are being given. Someone with an account accepts it outright. Someone without one fills in these fields, and Lucrii creates the account and joins it in one step.
| Field | What it takes |
|---|---|
| Name | Your name |
| Password | A password for the new account |
| What is your role? | Your role in the business, from a list |
An invitation belongs to the address it was sent to. Logged in as another address, the page says so. It offers Log Out and Switch Accounts in place of the accept action.
Log out is in the menu under your name, at the foot of the sidebar.
- Some error pages offer Log out as well. The invitation page has Log Out and Switch Accounts, and the verification screen has Log Out and Use a Different Email. Each signs you out and opens Log In.
- From the invitation page, logging in brings you back to the invitation.
- A link to the sign-out page opens a Log Out page and signs nobody out. Select Log Out there to sign out. Without a sign-in to end, the link opens Log In.
Where an organisation requires single sign-on for a domain, its people log in with Google.
- An address on that domain can’t log in with a password or a passkey. It can’t sign up with a password either, on Create your account or from an invitation. Lucrii refuses each with “Your organisation signs in with Google. Log in or sign up with Google.” Create your account refuses it at Continue, before asking for the rest.
- An address written with a dot at the end, such as sam@example.com., counts as its domain.
- A member of an organisation that requires single sign-on logs in with Google too, whatever their address. So does a member of a sub-organisation whose parent organisation requires it. Lucrii refuses their password or passkey with the same sentence, once the password or passkey is right.
- An invitation from an organisation that requires single sign-on, or whose parent organisation requires it, joins through Google. For someone without an account, the page says the organisation signs in with Google and offers Sign Up with Google in place of the fields. Google then returns you to the invitation, where you accept it.
- Logged in with a password or a passkey, Accept Invitation shows “Your organisation signs in with Google. Log in or sign up with Google.” and a Log In with Google button. Logging in with Google brings you back to accept it.
- If your organisation starts requiring single sign-on after you log in with a password or a passkey, you stay logged in for those 30 days. Then log in with Google.
Google signs you in to the account that holds your address, and never opens a second one.
- For a gmail.com address, or one on a domain your Google Workspace runs, it adds Google sign-in to a confirmed account at once.
- For any other address, the login page asks you to log in to the account for that address with your password or passkey. On the page that follows, choose Add to add Google sign-in to that account, or Not Now to leave it as it is.
- Lucrii emails the account whenever Google sign-in is added. An account with two-factor turned on still asks for it.
- A member whose organisation requires single sign-on, and whose account has no Google sign-in yet, starts the same way, with Google. Log In then takes the password or passkey of the account for that address, and the second factor where the account has one. That log in adds Google sign-in to the account and doesn’t log you in. It says “Google sign-in is added to your account. Log in with Google.” Select Google again to log in.
- An account whose address isn’t confirmed can’t add Google sign-in. It shows Verify Your Email First.
Good to know:
- Lucrii keeps the destination you were headed for through a detour to Google or to the signup page. It also keeps it through the log in you are sent to after you are signed out. A link from an email, or a code entered by hand, still opens where it was meant to.
- A Lucrii account on a gmail.com or Google Workspace address may never have had its address confirmed. Where the account already signs in with that Google account and has no password, signing in with it confirms the address and doesn’t remove anything. On an account that also has a password, the sign-in doesn’t confirm the address. The link in the verification email confirms it.
- A sign-in with a different Google account for that address confirms it whether or not the account has a password. Lucrii then signs the account out everywhere and removes everything set up before the address was confirmed. That is the password, passkeys, authenticator app, Google sign-ins, MCP clients and API credentials. Lucrii emails you the list of what it removed. Resetting your password sets a password again.
Before you start
- Passwords need eight or more characters.
- Lucrii offers Passkey login only in a browser that supports it.
- Your Name, and Name on an invitation, can’t be Hermes or System. A Google account with either name signs up with no name.
How to use it
- Open the signup page and enter your email address and a password, then select Continue. Or select Google.
- Enter your name and your business name, and select Create Account.
- To log in later, enter your email address and select Continue, then your password and Log In.
- Where a second factor is asked for, enter the six-digit code, or select Use Passkey.
To accept an invitation, open the link in the email.
- Logged in on the address it was sent to, select Accept Invitation.
- Without an account, fill in the three fields and select Create Account & Join.
- Logged in as somebody else, select Log Out and Switch Accounts. Logging in brings you back to the invitation.
- Logged out with an account already, select Log In to Accept. Logging in brings you back.
Troubleshooting
If an invitation link shows Invalid Invitation, it has expired, been revoked or already been used. Use the links on that page to log in or sign up.
An invitation link shows Invalid Invitation with “This invitation is no longer valid. Ask for a new one.” The person who sent it can no longer give the role it offers. Ask an administrator for a new invitation.
Google sign-in was not added because the request expired or you logged in to a different account. The request lasts 15 minutes. Log in to the account for the address Google gave, then sign in with Google again.
