Taxes
What it does
Use Taxes to set the rates your orders charge. Taxes lists the rates your organisation charges.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The name the tax is known by, such as GST or VAT |
| Percentage | The rate |
| Created At, Created By | When the tax was made, and who made it |
| Updated At, Updated By | When it last changed, and who changed it |
- Updated At and Updated By start hidden. Turn them on from Columns and Sort.
- Create Tax opens a form with a Name and a Percentage. A tax created during onboarding, such as GST at ten per cent, is already on the list.
- Selecting a row opens the tax, where Edit changes it and More Actions holds View Audit History, View Bulk Activity and Delete. More Actions also has Set as default on a tax that is not the default.
- Changing a tax’s Percentage applies to order lines that choose the tax afterwards. Order lines you already have keep the rate they were charged at.
While you have any taxes, one of them is always your default. The list and the tax’s page show a Default badge beside it.
- Your first tax becomes the default. That includes the one created during onboarding.
- Marking another tax as the default moves the badge to it.
- A new item starts with the default tax, and you can change it or set it to None on the item. Items you already have keep the tax they were given.
Tick rows to delete several taxes at once, as Bulk actions on settings lists describes. The Actions menu holds Import and Export, which Importing and exporting taxes, units and teams covers.
The view list at the left of the list’s toolbar holds your saved views under Yours. Views shared with everyone in your organisation are under Shared, with a people icon. On this list, a saved view keeps the search, sort and columns it was saved with. Work boards and tasks covers saved views and selecting rows.
Before you start
- Reading the list is open to every member. Create Tax, Edit, Delete and Set as default need administrator or above, and the buttons are absent below that role.
- A percentage has to be between 0 and 100, with up to four decimal places.
- A tax’s Name can be up to 100 characters.
- A tax’s name can’t match another tax’s name, even where only the capitals differ.
- You can keep up to 50 saved views of your own on each list.
- Create and Save stay at the top of the page, and leaving with unsaved changes opens Discard Changes, as Creating a contact describes.
- Save keeps changes someone else made to other fields while you edited. Where you both changed one field, Lucrii asks which to keep. See who else is on a record says more.
How to use it
- Open Settings, then Taxes under Organisation.
- Select Create Tax.
- Enter the Name, such as GST or VAT.
- Enter the Percentage.
- Select Create.
To make a tax the default, open it and select Set as default from More Actions.
Deleting a tax asks you to confirm first.
An MCP client can create, update and delete taxes. Setting the default is only on this page.
To save a view of your own:
- Search, sort and choose the columns the way you want them.
- Open the view list at the left of the toolbar, then select Save As New View.
- Enter a name for the view and select Save.
Troubleshooting
Delete is greyed out on the default tax. You can delete the default tax only when it is your last tax, such as after you stop charging tax. Set another default first. An MCP client can’t delete the default tax while you have other taxes either.
Lucrii refuses to delete a tax. An item or an open order still uses it. The message counts them and asks you to reassign them first. Documents you have already made keep the tax they were made with.
