## What it does

Reset your password when you have forgotten it or think someone else knows it. Forgot your password on the login page opens Reset Password.

- It asks for your email address and sends a link to it. The screen then reads Check Your Email and says the link expires in one hour.
- The link opens Set New Password, with a field for the password and a field to confirm it.
- Saving takes you back to the login page, which confirms that the password was reset.

Setting the password signs you out everywhere else you were signed in, on every device.

- A page open there goes to the login page, usually at once and otherwise within about 5 minutes.
- It cancels any email address change waiting for its link.
- It disconnects your MCP clients and your sign-ins from the Lucrii command line, in every organisation. That includes a command-line sign-in you approved that hasn't finished.
- API credentials you created keep working.

Lucrii emails you to say the password changed.

- The email lists how the account signs in: password, passkeys, authenticator app and Google.
- It lists the MCP clients still connected to it, and where to remove each.
- Lucrii has no control to remove Google sign-in. For Google, the email gives support@lucrii.io.
- Where you created API credentials, the email names them and links this page. To review your organisation's API credentials, log in to the Lucrii command line and run `lucrii tokens list`. To end one, run `lucrii tokens revoke` followed by its ID from that list.

Good to know:

- The confirmation screen looks the same whether or not the address has an account. Nobody can tell who is registered.
- On an account whose address nobody has confirmed, the reset is the first proof that the mailbox is yours. It confirms the address and signs the account out everywhere. It removes everything set up before the address was confirmed. That is the earlier password, passkeys, authenticator app, Google sign-ins, MCP clients and API credentials. Lucrii emails you the list of what it removed. Log in with the password you just set.

## Before you start

- A reset link lasts one hour, and it works once.
- [Passwords need eight or more characters](/docs/account/signup-login.md). The password and its confirmation must match before you can save it.

## How to use it

1. Select Forgot your password on the login page, or open the reset page directly.
2. Enter your email address and select Send reset link.
3. Open the email and select the link inside it.
4. Enter the new password twice and select Reset Password.
5. Log in with the new password.

## Troubleshooting

The reset link doesn't work. A link works once and lasts one hour. Request another one.

Send reset link says to wait. You have asked too many times. One address gets three requests before it has to wait, then one more every twenty minutes. A network that several people share, such as an office, gets ten requests before it waits. It then gets one more back each minute.
